Huehuetenango
Huehuetenango its situated in the western highlands and shares border with Mexico. The department possesses various natural wonders like rivers and large bodies of standing water. It's biggest and most famous is the Laguna Brava also know as Laguna Yolnabaj.
The main tourist attractions in the department includes the cenotes of Candelaria, Gruta Hoyo del Cimarrón, Laguna Brava, the source of the river San Juan and the restored Mayan ruins of Zaculeu.

Getting there
The most common way to get to Huehuetenango is by a car. The trip can take between 10-12 hours from Guatemala City, depending on traffic. If you travel by shuttle it can take even longer.
